Patriot One Technologies Summary of the Quarterly Update 31/05/2018

Key Partnership Announcements

The Company is in advanced discussions regarding key strategic partnerships, and consulting with leaders in the threat detection space.

It is a fact that several of these ongoing conversations could positively impact our efforts in three specific threat detection arenas: product integration, development and implementation. Furthermore, these potential opportunities include additional threat detection technologies that could augment and enhance our solution across diverse environments.

PATSCAN CMR Development Progress

Our PATSCAN CMR hardware team, led by radar expert Dr. Paul Rice, has instituted an antenna update program, which includes additional testing at our Las Vegas development center.

While we had hoped to have the product development farther along by now, we are pleased with the advances made to-date and strongly believe our ongoing updates will deliver the performance characteristics required for the system’s intended commercial application.

PATSCAN CMR Development Center Expansion

As stated in earlier announcements over the quarter, our management and engineers have begun preparations to roll out two additional development centers. We expect that working in these additional real-world environments, including applying recent advances in our antenna design, will further propel our hardware and software development and move our PATSCAN CMR solution further towards commercialization.

Public Policy Efforts

Of particular note, we met the Executive Director for the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO). As a result, we are now in discussions about a roll out of Patriot One information to schools and resource officers across the nation.

Patriot One participated in the Hoover Security Summit near Birmingham, Alabama. The team met with major law enforcement agencies representing several counties, municipalities and the University of Alabama, an institution that hosts over 120,000 visitors each week in its football stadium for their 8 home games for NCAA College Football.

Patriot One Technologies – an update and summary on the last couple of months.

Greetings fellow shareholders and all you interested in Patriot One Technologies!

It has been an eventful month or so to say the least. Or has it?

Let us be honest. Yes, we have seen an all time high ($1.95) in the share price just to see an equally “high” downside. The interest in the stock saw an incredible surge in conjunction with the FCC approval and then again with the promotion of the Facebook group. But the fall in the share price has taken its due toll on the interest in the company. But if we set aside psychological aspects, has anything really changed? My answer would be yes! But not for the worse.

In order to share my view, one needs to be well briefed on what the company has communicated and in particular on their timeline and milestones. It might sound a bit harsh and disrespectful. That is certainly not my intention. I have the utmost respect for the fact that it is impossible for the vast majority to find the time to not only do research but also to analyse the available information. I have been able to brief myself on the stock and for that I am grateful.

I see a clear common thread in Patriot One Technologies´ strategy. They have been very honest and open with their plans and timeline for the development of the company. This is best illustrated by the presented milestone of 2017.

Key Milestones Targeted by Patriot One UPDATED

The company has fulfilled every single milestone so far. That is not hype, that is simply a fact. And it becomes even more clear when you listen to the many interviews with CEO Martin Cronin. The news presented in Q3 2017 has been completely in line with expectations. Which normally is very well received among investors, current as potential. But due to a large amount of hyping and over enthusiastic individuals posting one analysis greater than the other, many have come to expect immediate and huge news during 2017. This is certainly not the only explanation, but it sure is a big part of it.

The latest press release was not well received by many of the shareholders, looking for immediate and huge news. Many people expressed their disappointment and were quite upset. Before this press release there was great frustration over the absence of news and press releases from the company. But the fact of the matter is that the latest press release was excellent. The company communicated not only that everything is completely in line with the business plan, but also revealed some great news that I did not expect. I am referring to updates on the progress of product development (a mobile version of PATSCAN), installations and evaluation, the development, training and showroom centers, and the hiring of even more prominent leading experts. The newsletter that was communicated recently is confirming that the company is really fulfilling their goals, milestones and timelines. In my view, we could not ask for a more detailed update. It contains valuable information and is simply a display of facts and confidence. Everything we need to know is right there. But if you´re looking for a multi billion sales order or announcement of a tier-1 partnership you will be disappointed for sure. But then bare in mind that events of that sort can not happen until everything else is in place. And that is exactly what the company is doing. Making sure that they have a solid product to market. I am confident that there is indeed a deal ready with both tier-1 and major resellers across the globe, waiting to be signed when PATSCAN is at get go. The earlier communicated pre-orders is really a confirmation on what is about to come.

How should we interpret the latest press release from Patriot One Technologies?

In this post, I present a summary of what the company conveyed in its latest press release (see link above) and my thoughts on it. I would like you to note my closing comments and the disclaimer at the bottom of the post, as always.

Terrific Interest and Increasing Cash Flow

According to the press release, there was a great interest from investors in connection with the latest capital acquisition.

The company also notes that the company’s working capital has now increased with $15M which “enables us to expand production efforts to meet the global demand of PATSCAN”.

My Thoughts

The company is sought after by major investors. Canaccord is an example. This is of course always important, not least for newly started smaller companies that face expansion and commercialization of their product. Here we have the CEO, who makes it very clear that the interest has been very large among investors. I assume that there were investors who were rejected in this round of caputal aquisition. I think Martin Cronin’s very straightforward and direct statement on the terrific interest from the investor community is very positive and important, not least because of the PR that this brings about and that investors are talking about Patriot1Tech – the word is spreading.

The company now has $15 million that will be utilizes on the expansion to meet the global demand of PATSCAN. Money is available. There is a global demand. Note which words the company chooses to communicate. They could have chosen many other ways to communicate this. Here they choose to repeat and state that there is a global demand – in the midst of the company’s ongoing commercialization process. To stick their necks out at this time and in such a straightforward way should confirm that there is indeed a great global demand, as the company has previously expressed.

Product Development

The recent funding will also be spent on the ongoing development of the product. Demand for a mobile PATSCAN is high among police and military. Even the software will be developed to expand the database of objects the system can identify.

My Thoughts

The fact that the company is already working on product development and especially the development of a new mobile device for police and other security personnel, I interpret as that the company is at the forefront and is proactive. It is important to be responsive to what the market demands. The fact that the company is already able to allocate time and resources to additional products such as this mobile device, in my opinion, indicates that the company already has a stable business regarding the current product.

Installations and Evaluation

Patriot1Tech confirms in the press release that the company is now in the process of rolling out installations at “early adopter clients” to test the software under real-world conditions. The PATSCAN system is currently being installed in the United States (Las Vegas) and in Canada. This is in accordance with what was previously communicated by the management and a confirmation that this goes according to plan. According to the company’s presentation of key milestones in Q4, we can read “Initial delivery and installation at client locations.”

Here I believe it is appropriate to recall what President Martin Cronin has said earlier:

“So, we’re having to identify some early adopter clients who we can work with who will be a key point of reference in the market and who have the level of sophistication to work with us to look at how best to deploy, make sure that we can learn any lessons from the field that we haven’t anticipated and that they as a client can really think about how they can deploy it.”

“So, the initial roll out is a relatively small number of sites with early adopter clients, so … they can learn how to implement the system. That will prepare us for a mass market roll out in 2018.”

Patriot1Tech will host a security forum in Las Vegas

In December, Patriot1Tech will host a security forum in Las Vegas at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, for security managers in various industries, including the entertainment industry, property management and law enforcement agencies such as the police.

My Thoughts

Strategically well planned. Organizing a conference or forum for managers in security in different industries provides good PR for the company. That Patriot1Tech is choosing Las Vegas thinks I’m really good. Partly because of the recent mass shooting, partly because it is where the company will establish a development center (see below). Hopefully this will generate new contacts, potential buyers and customers. Not least, it is goodwill for goodwill and PR for the company.

Unfortunately, we do not know if a demonstration of the PATSCAN will be available during the forum. But here I would like to point out that Patriot1Tech has signed an agreement with Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino to test the technology and product with the purpose of evaluating the integration capabilities of existing security solutions.

I consider it highly unlikely that Patriot1tech would choose to hold the forum at the site where their product is installed and used, unless the product is functioning well. Here I would like to remind you of the press release of March 23, 2017: “Patriot One announces the evaluation and purchase agreement with iconic Las Vegas property, Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, where it is stated that Westgate will have the product installed and test it at its facility and integrate it with its existing security system. Note that Westgate’s management in this connection stated that this is hopefully the first of many installations at their facilities across the United States. Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino has long been an iconic landmark and the chain has facilities in 28 locations around the United States. Patriot1Tech’s CEO Martin Cronin commented as follows: ”As a first class showcase for our company, we thank the Westgate team for their vision and leadership in providing us the opportunity to deploy the installation in front of a key audience.”

Development Centers, Training Centers and Showroom Centers

Patriot1Tech already has two development centers in Ottawa and Burlington, Canada. During Q4 2017, the company will establish another two development centers in the United States (Las Vegas) and Great Britain (London). The planning of these centers is done together with the company’s key strategic partners.

Patriot1Tech will also open two showrooms for PATSCAN. One in Burlington, Canada and one in British Columbia, Canada. Here, investors and potential customers will be able to view and test PATSCAN and the software in a variety of environments and scenarios. The center in British Columbia will also be a training facility where customers will be trained in how to use the product.

My Thoughts

In my view, this is a very important milestone and a major step in both the development and commercialization process for Patriot1Tech. The company will thus establish not only one but several development centers, one of which will be in London, UK and one in Las Vegas, USA. I can not interpret this in any other way than the company has good grounds for this decision. Adding resources and energy to setting up not only development and exhibition centers but also training facilities for customers is, in my opinion, an important signal to the market and not least shareholders that the company is convinced that the customer base exists and that it will close several major orders and sales agreements with key strategic partners, which is both a prerequisite and guarantee of success. So I find this to be very positive indeed.

Extension of staff with leading global experts

Patriot1Tech has employed two more engineers with weapons detection and cognitive microwave radar expertise. These two experts will lead the development center in London. They also possess more than two dozen patents in the area. This means that the company now has six of the world’s leading experts employed, which is unique in the industry.

My Thoughts

This is difficult to make a deeper analysis of. I would like to know more about what patents they bring with them of course. But choosing to set up a development center in London and hiring another two world-leading experts in the field is a good sign and a confirmation that the company will establish itself in Britain as well as having a key strategic partner there.

Final comments and disclaimer

I probably sound extremely positive. I am a shareholder in the company and of course I have an interest in that the company is doing well. My goal is to always be as neutral and objective as I can be where I try to present the avaliable facts. Then I try to add my thoughts and I try to make a distinction between what we actually know and what are my interpretations. But I’m not perfect in any way, so sometimes this may be unclear. But I would like to share my analysis and which companies I identify as interesting. That’s the whole purpose of my blog and I’ve understood that there are many who appreciate reading my blog. Since the start of August I have had almost 12,000 readings of my articles. I am very thankful, happy and proud of the great interest you readers seem to have in my blog.

And as usual, I would like to clarify that this is a post based on information about that company and my own theories and thoughts. Vad signalerar Patriot One Technologies genom sitt senaste pressmeddelande?

I detta inlägg presenterar jag en sammanfattning av vad bolaget förmedlade i sitt senaste pressmeddelande (se länk ovan) och mina tankar kring det. Jag vill gärna att ni noterar mina avslutande kommentarer och disclaimern längst ner i inlägget, som alltid.

Stort intresse och utökning av kassan

Enligt pressreleasen fanns det ett stort intresse från investerare i samband med den senaste kapitalanskaffningen.

Bolaget konstaterar också att kassan nu är $15M som ”möjliggör för oss att expandera produktionsinsatserna för att möta den globala efterfrågan av PATSCAN”.

Mina tankar

Bolaget är eftertraktat hos stora investerare. Canaccord är ett exempel. Detta är såklart alltid viktigt, inte minst för nystartade mindre bolag som står inför en expansion och kommersialisering av sin produkt. Här har vi alltså VD:n som är tydlig med att intresset varit väldigt stort bland investerare. Jag utgår från att det då även finns investerare som velat, men inte fått teckna. Jag tror att Martin Cronins tydliga poängtering av det stora intresset bland investerare är väldigt bra och viktigt, inte minst på grund av den gratis PR detta ger och att investerare pratar om Patriot1Tech – snacket går och sprider sig, så att säga.

15 miljoner dollar i kassan som ska gå till expansionen för att möta den globala efterfrågan av PATSCAN. Pengar finns. Global efterfrågan. Notera vilka ord som bolaget väljer att kommunicera. Man kunde valt många andra sätt att kommunicera detta på. Här väljer man att gå ut med att det finns en global efterfrågan. Detta mitt under pågående kommersialiseringsarbete. Att sticka ut hakan borde bekräfta att det fortfarande finns en stor global efterfrågan, något som bolaget tidigare också uttryckt.

Produktutveckling

Kapitalanskaffningen kommer också gå till den pågående utvecklingen av produkten. Efterfrågan av en mobil PATSCAN är hög bland polis och militär. Även mjukvaran kommer utvecklas för att utöka databasen över föremål systemet kan identifiera.

Mina tankar

Att bolaget redan är igång med produktutvecklingen och särskilt med utvecklingen av en mobil enhet till poliser och annan säkerhetspersonal tolkar jag som ett tecken på att bolaget ligger i framkant och är proaktiva. Det är viktigt att vara lyhörd inför vad marknaden efterfrågar. Att bolaget redan nu kan avsätta tid och resurser på ytterligare produkter såsom denna mobila enhet vittnar, enligt mig, om att bolaget redan har en stabil verksamhet gällande den nuvarande produkten.

Installation och utvärdering

Patriot1Tech bekräftar i pressreleasen att bolaget nu är i färd med utrullningen av installationer hos ”early adopter clients” för att testa mjukvaran under skarpa (verkliga) förhållanden. PATSCAN-systemet är i färd med att installeras i USA (Las Vegas) och i Kanada. Detta är i enlighet med vad som tidigare kommunicerats av ledningen och en bekräftelse på att detta går enligt plan. Enligt bolagets presentation av viktiga milstolpar anges under Q4 ”Initial delivery and installation at client locations.”

Här tycker jag att det är på sin plats att erinra vad VD Martin Cronin tidigare sagt:

Patriot1Tech kommer att arrangera ett säkerhetsforum i Las Vegas

I december kommer Patriot1Tech att arrangera ett säkerhetsforum i Las Vegas på Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, för säkerhetschefer inom olika branscher, bland annat underhållningsindustrin, fastighetsförvaltning och rättsvårdande myndigheter såsom polisen.

Mina tankar

Strategiskt bra planerat. Att arrangera en konferens eller forum för cheferna inom säkerhet inom olika branscher ger bra PR för bolaget. Att det sker i Las Vegas tycker jag är riktigt bra. Dels på grund av masskjutningen nyligen, dels på grund av att det är där som bolaget kommer upprätta ett utvecklingscentrum (se nedan). Förhoppningsvis kommer detta generera nya kontakter, potentiella inköpare och kunder. Inte minst är det bra goodwillskapande verksamhet och PR för bolaget.

Det framgår tyvärr inte om bolaget kommer ha möjlighet att demonstrera produktsystemet. Men här vill jag påminna om att Patriot1Tech har tecknat ett avtal med just Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino om att testa teknologin och produkten med syftet att utvärdera integrationsmöjligheterna med existerande säkerhetslösningar.

Jag bedömer det som högst osannolikt att Patriot1tech skulle välja att förlägga forumet på platsen där deras produkt är installerad och används, om man inte är säker på att produkten fungerar bra. Här vill jag påminna om pressmeddelandet från den 23 mars 2017: “Patriot One announces evaluation and purchase agreement with iconic Las Vegas property, Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, to install concealed weapons detection system” där det framgår att Westgate ska få produkten installerad och testa den på sin anläggning och integrera den med sitt befintliga  säkerhetssystem. Notera att Westgates ledning i samband härmed uttryckte att detta förhoppningsvis är den första av många installationer på deras anläggningar runtom i USA. Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino har länge varit ett ikoniskt landmärke och kedjan har anläggningar på 28 orter runtom i USA. Patriot1Techs VD Martin Cronin uttalade sig så här: ”As a first class showcase for our company, we thank the Westgate team for their vision and leadership in providing us the opportunity to deploy the installation in front of a key audience.”

Mina tankar

Detta är enligt mig en mycket viktig milstolpe och ett stort steg i både utvecklings- och kommersialiseringsprocessen för Patriot1Tech. Bolaget kommer alltså att upprätta inte bara ett utan flera utvecklingscentra, varav ett kommer finnas i London, Storbritannien och ett i Las Vegas, USA. Jag kan inte tolka detta på annat sätt än att bolaget har goda grunder för detta beslut. Att lägga resurser och energi på att upprätta inte bara utvecklings- och utställningscentra, utan även och träningsanläggningar för kunder är enligt mig en viktig signal till marknaden och inte minst aktieägarna att bolaget är övertygade om att kundunderlaget finns och att man kommer att säkerställa flera stora ordrar och försäljningsavtal med key strategic partners, vilket är både en förutsättning och garanti för framgång. Så detta ser jag som starkt positivt.

Utökning av personalstyrkan med ledande globala experter

Patriot1Tech har anställt ytterligare två ingenjörer med expertis inom vapendetektering och cognitive microwave radar. Dessa ska leda utvecklingscentret i London. De besitter även mer än två dussin patent inom området. Detta innebär att bolaget nu har sex av världens ledande experter anställda, vilket är unikt inom branschen.

Mina tankar

Detta är svårt att göra en djupare analys av. Jag skulle vilja veta mer om vilka patent de för med sig såklart. Men att man väljer att upprätta ett utvecklingscentrum i London och anställa ytterligare två världsledande experter inom området är ett gott tecken och en bekräftelse på att bolaget kommer att etablera sig även i Storbritannien och att man har en key strategic partner där.

Jag låter förmodligen oerhört positiv. Givetvis ska allt jag skriver läsas utifrån vad det är. Jag är aktieägare i bolaget och har självklart ett intresse i att det går bra för bolaget. Min målsättning är att alltid vara så neutral och objektiv som jag kan vara där jag försöker presentera de fakta som finns. Därefter försöker jag lägga till mina tankar och jag försöker göra en skiljelinje mellan vad vi faktiskt vet och vad som är mina tolkningar. $PAT.V $PTOTF Patriot One Technologies – Contractual Commitments, Intellectual Property and Material Contracts

Contractual Commitments

On March 24, 2016, Patriot (licensee) entered into a contract with McMaster University (the “McMaster Agreement”). This is a standard license agreement and includes a 3.5% net sales royalty. The termination date is 20 years from the effective date (March 24, 2036) or upon the last to expire or become abandoned of the licensed patents. Change of control and assignment is permitted with the prior written consent of McMaster University.

In consideration, the Company paid an up-front license fee of $10,000 and issued 1,560,000 common shares with a fair value of $78,000 to McMaster. In addition, the Company agreed to pay a royalty percentage of 3.5% on net sales and from time to time, issue common shares of the Company to McMaster so that in the aggregate, shares held by McMaster represent 5% of the Company’s issued and outstanding common shares calculated on a fully diluted basis. Such issuance shall continue until and including the date upon which a total of $2,000,000 in cash shall be received by the Company in exchange for the Company’s capital stock. Thereafter, no additional shares shall be due to McMaster. As well, the Company agreed to make minimum annual royalty payments as follows:

  • first year $2,500
  • second year 2,500
  • third year 5,000
  • fourth and subsequent years 7,500.

Intellectual Property

McMaster University carries out scientific research and has developed the intellectual property in the patents that are described in the McMaster Agreement. The McMaster Agreement grants Patriot an exclusive royalty bearing license to use and practice the licensed patents with the exclusive license to make, use, or sell the licensed products or transfer the licensed products. Patriot currently has a license agreement with McMaster University that covers the worldwide rights to the following University Patents:

  • UA a201506349
  • HK 16106764.3

Material Contracts

The following is a list of material contracts of Patriot, other than contracts entered into in the ordinary course of business, entered into by Patriot within the two years before the date of this Filing Statement:

1) Patriot, the Issuer, Bullrun Capital Inc. (“Bullrun”) and Rajni Singhera entered into a royalty agreement dated October 26, 2016 (the “Royalty Agreement”) pursuant to which Patriot will grant Bullrun and Rajni Singhera 2% (as to 1% each) net sales royalty on Patriot’s use of the technology licensed from McMaster University pursuant to the McMaster Agreement (as more particularly set out above).

2) On March 24, 2016, Patriot (licensee) entered into a contract with McMaster University (the “McMaster Agreement”). This is a standard license agreement and includes a 3.5% net sales royalty. The termination date is 20 years from the effective date (March 24, 2036) or upon the last to expire or become abandoned of the licensed patents. Change of control and assignment is permitted with the prior written consent of McMaster University.

3) On May 30, 2016, Patriot executed a contract with Macadamian relating to the October 2016 pilot for software development. There is no termination date but Patriot has the right to terminate the contract with 30 days written notice to Macadamian. There are no change of control or assignment provisions in the agreement. Macadamian is a software and design firm based in the United States but with offices in Canada. The pilot project involves testing Patriot’s threat detection technology at two different test facilities. The discovery phase is estimated to cost $40,800-$60,000 and the design and development phases is estimated to cost $232,000-$316,000.

4) Phase 1: Statement of Work between Sensoft and Patriot dated May 30, 2016 in respect of a Phase 1 prototype system for demonstration and field testing of Patriot’s technology. The aggregate quoted cost of work pursuant to this agreement is $280,000.

An Investment in A Safer World with a Concept Easily Taken to The Heart

We have probably all been in one way or another affected by developments in the world in recent years. Almost daily we can read in the media about tragic events that affect innocent people. There is a wide range of both attacks and motives. Religious, political, economic and/or purely personal motives are most often behind these terrible attacks.

Personally, I feel melancholic and disheartened at times and I cannot imagine how it feels for those personally affected. It is hard not to be encumbered and overwhelmed by almost daily media reports on the many attacks that take place around the world. We ourselves, in Scandinavia, have even been hit. A place that was long spared of terror. Stockholm, Copenhagen, Oslo and Helsinki have all suffered. In the United States, mass shootings are unfortunately quite common, where Las Vegas was last hit. This violence is indiscriminate and affects children as adults. We have seen several school shootings. We have seen armed perpetrators shooting their way in to concerts. The list is far too long and I do not want to mention more examples because I think you all know what is taking place in the world. But most of these attacks have one thing in common: weapons. Without weapons it is difficult to execute them. One question I often discuss with my friends is: why can we not detect weapons and have security controls in more places in our societies than we have today? I will not engage in any political discussion. We can only state that we live in open and free societies and want to continue to do so.

So, is there really no way to avoid metal detectors, security controls, body searches, etc. without sacrificing our open and free societies? And without causing practical concerns such as long queues, delays, frustration and integrity restrictions?

I would personally wish that I could help reduce the risk of attacks. And I know I am not alone. Because I’m an investor and not a politician, I think I’ve found a way to contribute. The way is spelled Patriot One Technologies Inc.

Background

Patriot One Technologies was formed with the purpose of commercializing the technology originally developed for NATO by a research team at McMaster University, Canada. The technology was developed to solve the problem of detecting hidden weapons on individuals in public places in time, to allow the authorities to act before criminal acts take place.

The research team, led by Dr. Natalia Nikolova, developed the technology with a $ 2.5 million grant from NATO and the NSERC (National Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada) to protect military troops from previously undetectable threats.

Patriot One Technologies is the first company in the world to deliver a product system that scans an individual for hidden weapons. Everything happens without the knowledge of the person being examined. This is done without limiting privacy and is fully compatible with legislation around the world. The technology enables us to live our lives as usual and maintain our freedom and transparency.

There are currently no other products on the market that can scan a person for a hidden weapon without that person knowing about it. All the technologies currently available on the market require human intervention who need to process and analyze information. In addition, the current technologies require intrusive measures, such as halting and body search individuals. Measures that not only take time but also create queues and make intrusions in our daily lives. Most of us probably share these experiences. In addition, these technologies often have a relatively high number of false warnings. Security controls at airports are a typical example.

I guess most people, just like me, one time or another have reflected on the lack of controls in several places in our societies? Especially after the many terror attacks and mass shootings that has taken place in recent years. How many of us have not been to football games, concerts, universities, underground stations, train stations, government buildings, shopping centers, tourist attractions, places of worship, museums, hotels – the list is almost endless – where we have not been scanned for weapons or explosives?

I personally have experienced exactly this as I was attending two concerts in Copenhagen last summer. Metallica inaugurated the newly built Royal Arena and Guns N ‘Roses played at the Park (I suppose my music taste may not be the most modern). As you recall, one of the terrorist attacks in Paris in November 2015 was directed at a rock band and the people coming to see them play where gunmen carried out a mass shooting and took hostages. The Royal Arena has a capacity of 16,000 and the Park has a capacity of +50,000. What struck me on both occasions was that we never actually passed any kind of metal detector. Instead, on both occasions, a young man was ashamed to carry out the body search and was stressed out by the large number of people who wanted to pass the control. This resulted in a very fast and loose “search” where he felt along my arms and in my armpits. On both occasions I had a bag with me. Security at the Park did not want to look inside my bag nor did they want to search it or feel it. I had to ask them myself to check my bag (I simply wanted to make a point and make them realize that this was something that they should be doing).

What makes the Patriot One Technologies’ product system PATSCAN CMRTM unique?

Smart System with No Human Operator

The systems that exist today, such as metal detectors that people have to go through, use a technology that has been around for a long time. These systems are fixed and large installations visible to potential perpetrators. The perpetrators know very well where the surveillance takes place.

Such installations always require human operators.

One thing that stands out with these systems, and which we’ve all been through and which causes frustration, queues and delays, is that they have many so-called “false positives”. They simply often warn for items that are not dangerous.

Patriot One Technologies PATSCAN CMRTM can be hidden and takes up very little space (510.5mm x 363.2mm x 93.9mm or 20.1” x 14.3” x 3.7mm). See below. It can be hidden behind walls, cabinets, receptions, ceilings.

One obvious advantage of PATSCAN CMRTM is that it moves the location of the threat detection further away from the place where the perpetrators can cause the greatest damage.

The system also does not require consent from individuals. This is usually a limitation and is part of the explanation as to why so many sites lack systems that can detect hidden weapons.

 

How Does PATSCAN CMRTM Detect Hidden Weapons?

The product system PATSCAN CMRTM is based on a technology that is called Cognitive Microwave Radar, CMR. This is the very latest technology for scanning individuals for hidden weapons. The system can scan individuals both openly and covertly, that is, without the individual being aware of it. For example, PATSCAN CMRTM can scan an individual who is entering a building and discover if he/she is wearing a hidden weapon. Without the person even knowing about it. Whether the weapon is a gun, a knife, a hand grenade, an explosive vest and/or belt, etc.

Patriot One Technologies product system PATSCAN CMRTM thus uses a “smart” radar to detect hidden weapons. Everything happens automatically by a smart computer – PATSCAN CMRTM – in real time and is completely computer-controlled. People are not needed when scanning.

This is how it works technically. PATSCAN CMRTM transmits radar waves which bounce back. The radar waves are then analyzed by the cognitive software. But what is analyzed by the software and how does it work? Everything happens in real time and fast. The software receives and processes the incoming radar waves. It automatically transforms them into an image of the detected threat/weapon. The image is thus simply created by the rebounding radar waves. The software then makes a quick run of the drawing in a large database of well-known weapons of various kinds and can with great certainty determine whether anyone is wearing a gun, a rifle, an explosive vest and/or belt, knives etc. The whole system is controlled by advanced mathematical algorithms.

But as if this was not enough, the product system even detects hidden irregular objects. This means that even new unknown potential weapons will be identified.

Unlike existing systems on the market, PATSCAN CMRTM is not only significantly cheaper. The system only needs one scan and can be used covertly. The product system can also be used from all different angles, such as front, rear, side and bottom.

Numerous areas of usage

Because the fact that the PATSCAN CMRTM is portable and very small, it provides almost endless possibilities of placement. It can simply be placed in a whole lot of places and offers the customer a great level of flexibility. In small spaces like behind a desk, one detector is sufficient. For larger spaces, several detectors can be used. Each detector has a range of 2 meters and by using several detectors, the scanning area can in principle be as wide area as the customer wishes.

The product is usually placed in access points, i.e. in entrances, passages, receptions or places where people have to pass. Thanks to the unlimited number of scanners that can be placed, PATSCAN CMRTM can cover larger crowds and areas where many people pass. This not only saves time and human resources. It also avoids giving up on our open and free societies. And avoids causing practical concerns such as long queues, delays and frustration. All in a safe, discreet and secure manner. You simply will not notice it. PATSCAN CMRTM sensors regularly scan the individuals who pass and can discreetly identify an individual wearing a hidden weapon and warn security personnel and / or law enforcement agencies such as police, security services and other authorities.

PATSCAN CMRTM can thus be placed already at airport entrances for example, unlike the metal detectors that currently are located far into the airport at the security checkpoints where more people are located.

Q.) There are no shortage of security companies in today’s world. As your site correctly suggests, there is a rise in domestic active shooting incidents. How is your technology unique compared to other detection companies? Is it the ability to learn over time?

A.) That’s the key feature of it. It’s the fact it is using machine learning to make very accurate determinations for concealed weapons. But there are a number of aspects to it. Can Be Integrated into Existing Security Systems

PATSCAN can also be integrated into other existing security systems, for example a locking system for doors. This way, the system can simply ensure that doors, passages, entrances – either in close proximity to the scan or further into the building where more people may stay or where sensitive data is stored – are locked when a threat is identified by the PATSCAN CMRTM. This ensures that the perpetrators cannot cause the damage they intended and prevents them from entering an area.

It simply comes down to what the customers wants. Camera surveillance is another type of security that many customers already use that can be integrated into PATSCAN CMRTM.

Weapons Database

Patriot One Technologies has a comprehensive and exclusive network of law enforcement agencies that provide the company with regulated access to global weapon collections. This means that the product’s system software, in addition to being cognitive and self-learning, is constantly updated as to which weapons it will recognize and identify. The weapon comparison database used by the system is continuously updated.

Accuracy

The Patriot One Technologies’ system has undergone extensive testing in reality. Over an extended field trial period, the system successfully and consistently detected concealed weapons with zero false negatives and a false positive rate of less than 5 per cent.

Zero false negatives mean that the system detected all weapons. False positive rate is used to tell how often the system flagged for non-weapons as a threat. These results are far superior to existing security systems.

Patriot One Technologies has recently received more than $10 million through issue. The company already generates revenue through sales and has already sold 300 units. With a margin of 70 percent this has generated $ 2.1 million. Note that sales are now entering an intensified stage and will therefore increase. The company has already received orders for 2018. Sales

  • Already after three months (March 2017), the company had received orders equivalent to 90 percent of the sales target for 2017. Until the approval in Canada (6th September 2017) and the United States (October 2, 2017), Patriot One Technologies was not allowed to commercialize its products. That is simply what the law looks like, nothing strange about it.
  • Patriot One Technologies’ CEO Martin Cronin explains this pedagogically in two separate interviews on August 21, 2017 and September 26, 2017 respectively. He also explains what the company is undertaking right now to launch large-scale sales, which also happens to be the company’s strategy. In short, Patriot One Technologies has been very selective in its choices of initial customers. A small number of early adopters / key customers have been handpicked, who must work with Patriot One Technologies to test and evaluate the product.

“So, we’re having to identify some early adopter clients who we can work with who will be a key point of reference in the market and who have the level of sophistication to work with us to look at how best to deploy, make sure that we can learn any lessons from the field that we haven’t anticipated and that they as a client can really think about how they can deploy it.”

“So, the initial roll out is a relatively small number of sites with early adopter clients, so … they can learn how to implement the system. That will prepare us for a mass market roll out in 2018.”

  • Patriot One Technologies achieved its yearly sales target as early as in May 2017. The 2017 production target of 300 units has also been reached.
  • The company has already started to receive orders for 2018 and is now in the midst of intensifying sales for Q1 2018, one of the company’s milestones. See “mass market roll-out” below.
  • The company has recently communicated that they are currently in talks with the largest security solutions companies and will conduct pilot projects with these companies. The relationship with these companies may look quite different from the relationship with the dealers. There may be sales on a license or even an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer -a company that manufactures the final product that can be sold in the open market).
  • Patriot One Technologies’ challenge is, according to CEO Martin Cronin, what customers to choose, not to acquire customers. Interest is simply overwhelming and the company is being approached daily by buyers from around the globe.
  • Patriot One Technologies currently has a production capacity of 300 units per month, but will shortly increase it to between 1000 and 2000 units per month. CEO Martin Cronin communicates that the company’s production needs for the next 12 months are thus covered.

  • Here is an excerpt from an interview with CEO Martin Cronin where he describes the company’s strategy and demand for their product.

Q: So, you start with customer installs in the 4th quarter. What sort of customers are you seeing and what sort of customer traction are you getting initially?

Martin Cronin: Our challenge really is who do we choose. We’ve had such overwhelming interest. Clearly this is a technology whose time has come. We’re getting approaches. Literally on a daily basis from right across the world. So, we’re having to identify some early adopter clients who we can work with who will be a key point of reference in the market and who have the level of sophistication to work with us to look at how best to deploy, make sure that we can learn any lessons from the field that we haven’t anticipated and that they as a client can really think about how they can deploy it.

So, the sort of clients that we are talking to is of course in government federal departments, in mass transportation, in tourism & hospitality, casinos, the health sector, higher education, retail… the list is almost endless and we know that we can’t just do it all in a drop of a hat, we can’t turn on the shift and just ship units out tomorrow. That will be a recipe for some failures in the market. We can’t afford to do that. So, we’re picking them very carefully. We’ll have some key reference clients here in Canada, some key clients in the US, we’ll be doing an installation in London, and we’ll likely be doing one in South Africa.

Q: So, you talk about being sold out through the 4th quarter and possibly beyond. Can you talk a little bit about the production site, what the constraints and bottlenecks are and how you’re going at it from that standpoint?

Martin Cronin: Sure. Our supply chain is well locked down. We, in our business plan that we communicated to the market, said that we had a target of 300 units the end of this year. Those are all now pre-committed with clients. Our supply chain – the item with the longest lead time is the signal generator which is produced for us on a contract in the US. They can do currently 300 units a month which additional lead time with retooling. They can ramp that up to 1 000 or 2000 units a month. So, we have supply chain locked down for our immediate demands for the next 12 months and were already working on much higher volumes that we anticipate beyond that period.

Approvals in the United States, Canada and Europe

Patriot One Technologies received approval for its product system by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada on September 6, 2017.

The US approval came when the FCC approved the product on October 2, 2017.

In addition, the company has obtained CE-marking for its products by European authorities, which means that the products meet the requirements of the EU and that it can therefore be sold in the EU’s internal market.

“We have filed patents in multiple jurisdictions and we will vigorously defend them. Nevertheless, there are also significant technical barriers to a competitor emerging in any short time frame. There are many years of highly complex, world class development behind our solutions.”

According to the MarketsandMarkets, the threat detection systems market was valued at $48 billion in 2015 and is estimated to reach $119 billion in 2022 with average annual growth of 13.1 percent. Furthermore, increasing threat of terrorist activities, rising territorial conflicts, and geopolitical instabilities have led to the rise in the demand for threat detection systems. Also, increasing need for large-scale surveillance systems at public and commercial places is driving the demand for threat detection equipment.

The Security Screening Market, which is a submarket to the threat detection systems market (X-Ray & Biometric Screening System, EDT, & Metal Detector at Airport, Government, Border Security, Education, and Private & Public Places) is estimated to $9.1 billion in 2020 with average annual growth rate of 9.5 percent.

Smallcapnetwork estimates the anti-terrorism market to 117 billion CAD.

Triggers

  • Installation of the product system at key customers / early adopters and evaluation under sharp conditions (in the environments for which the product is to be used). The company’s planned annual production of 300 units has already been sold to key customers / early adopters. These have now begun to be installed and will continue to be installed during Q4. The evaluation will set the level for future sales.
  • Ramp up marketing.
  • Production up-scale. Patriot One Technologies has publicly stated that demand for the product is unimaginably high.
  • New partnerships and agreements in the field of resale, distribution, production, installation, etc.

Patriot One Technologies – en glimrande pärla med lågt börsvärde i en marknad värd $117 miljarder

En investering i en tryggare värld och ett koncept som är lätt att ta till hjärtat

Vi har förmodligen alla på ett eller annat sätt blivit berörda av utvecklingen i världen de senaste åren. Nästan dagligen kan vi läsa i media om tragiska händelser som drabbar oskyldiga människor. Det är ett brett spektrum av både attentat och motiv. Religiösa, politiska, ekonomiska och/eller rent personliga motiv ligger oftast bakom.

För mig personligen känns det vemodigt och sorgligt och jag kan inte föreställa mig hur det känns för de som personligen blivit drabbade. Det är svårt att inte översköljas och överväldigas av medial rapportering om alla attentat som äger rum runtom i världen. Vi har själva blivit drabbade i Norden, en plats som länge var förskonad från terror. Stockholm, Köpenhamn, Oslo och Helsingfors har alla drabbats. I USA ser vi masskjutningar som vanligt förekommande, där Las Vegas drabbades senast. Våldet är urskillningslöst och drabbar barn som vuxna. Vi har sett flera skolskjutningar. Attentatsmän som beväpnade tagit sig in i konserthallar. Listan är alldeles för lång och jag vill inte nämna fler exempel eftersom jag tror att ni alla vet vad som händer i världen. Men de flesta av dessa attentat har en sak gemensamt: vapen. Utan vapen är det svårt att genomföra dem. En fråga som jag ofta diskuterar med mina vänner är: varför kan man inte upptäcka vapen och ha kontroller på flera platser i våra samhällen än vi har idag? Jag ska inte gå in på någon politisk diskussion. Vi kan bara konstatera att vi lever i öppna och fria samhällen och att vi önskar fortsätta med det.

Så finns det verkligen inte något sätt att undvika metalldetektorer, kontroller, kroppsvisitering m.m. utan att ge avkall på våra öppna och fria samhällen? Och utan att orsaka praktiska bekymmer såsom långa köer, intrång i vårt praktiska dagliga liv och inskränkningar i integriteten?

Jag skulle personligen önska att jag kunde bidra till att minska möjligheten för attentat att äga rum. Och jag vet att jag inte är ensam. Eftersom jag är en investerare och inte en politiker så tror jag mig ha funnit ett sätt att bidra. Sättet stavas Patriot One Technologies Inc.

Bakgrund

Patriot One Technologies bildades med syftet att kommersialisera den teknologi som ursprungligen utvecklades för NATO av ett forskarlag vid McMaster University i Kanada. Teknologin togs fram för att lösa problemet med att upptäcka dolda vapen på individer på offentliga platser i god tid, för att tillåta myndigheterna att agera innan kriminella handlingar äger rum.

Forskargruppen, under ledning av Dr. Natalia Nikolova, utvecklade tekniken med ett bidrag på 2,5 miljoner dollar från Nato och NSERC (National Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada) för att skydda militära trupper från tidigare oupptäckbara hot.

Patriot One Technologies produktsystem PATSCAN CMRTM

Patriot One Technologies är det första bolaget i världen som levererar ett produktsystem som scannar av en individ efter dolda vapen. Allt sker utan kännedom för den som blir granskad. Detta görs utan att inskränka integriteten och är fullt förenlig med lagstiftning runtom i världen. Teknologin möjliggör att vi kan leva våra liv som vanligt och behålla vår frihet och öppenhet.

Det finns idag inga andra produkter på marknaden som kan scanna av en person efter ett dolt vapen utan att den personen vet om det. Samtliga tekniker som idag finns på marknaden kräver mänsklig inblandning och att dessa människor bearbetar och analyserar information. Dessutom kräver teknikerna ingripande åtgärder, såsom att stoppa och kroppsvisitera individer. Åtgärder som inte bara tar tid utan också skapar köer och gör intrång i vårt praktiska dagliga liv. De flesta av oss har förmodligen varit med om detta. Dessutom visar dessa tekniker förhållandevis ofta falska varningar. Säkerhetskontroller på flygplatser är ett typiskt sådant exempel.

Självklart är det en klar fördel om man kan slippa allt det som nämns. Men det jag skulle vilja påstå utgör den största konkurrensfördelen med Patriot One Technologies produktsystem är följande. Jag antar att de flesta, precis som jag, någon gång reflekterat över avsaknaden av kontroller på flera platser ute i verkligheten? Framförallt efter de många terrorattentat och masskjutningar som ägt rum de senaste åren. Hur många har inte varit på en fotbollsmatch, konsert, universitet, tunnelbanor, tågstationer, myndigheter, köpcentrum, kända turistattraktioner och byggnader, kyrkor, museum, hotell (listan kan göras väldigt lång) där ni inte blivit genomsökta för vapen eller sprängämnen?

Jag har personligen så sent som i somras varit med om detta då jag var på två konserter i Köpenhamn. Metallica invigde nybyggda Royal Arena och Guns N’ Roses spelade på Parken (den bjuder jag på, min musiksmak är kanske inte den modernaste). Som ni minns, så riktade sig terrorattentatet i Paris bland annat mot ett rockband och konsertbesökarna. Royal Arena tar in 16 000 åskådare och Parken tar in över 50 000 åskådare. Det som slog mig vid båda tillfällena var att vi faktiskt aldrig passerade någon form av metalldetektor. Istället var det vid båda tillfällena en ung man som skämdes för att genomföra kroppsvisiteringen och som var stressad över det stora antalet människor som ville förbi kontrollen. Det resulterade i en väldigt snabb och lös ”visitation” där man kände längs med mina armar och i mina armhålor. Vid båda tillfällena hade jag en väska med mig. I Parken ville man inte titta i den. Då fick jag själv be dem att göra det för att markera att detta kanske är något som de borde göra.

Vad gör Patriot One Technologies system PATSCAN CMRTM unikt?

Smart system utan mänsklig inblandning

De system som finns idag, såsom metalldetektorer som människor måste gå igenom, använder en teknik som funnits länge. Dessa system är fasta och stora installationer som är synliga för potentiella förövare. Förövarna vet mycket väl var övervakningen sker.

Sådana installationer kräver alltid mänskliga operatörer.

En sak som sticker ut med dessa system, och som vi nog alla varit med om och som orsakar irritation och köer, är att de har många så kallade ”false positives”. De varnar helt enkelt ofta för föremål som inte är farliga.

Patriot One Technologies PATSCAN CMRTM kan döljas och tar väldigt lite utrymme (510.5mm x 363.2mm x 93.9mm). Se nedan. Den kan till exempel gömmas bakom väggar, skåp, receptioner och tak.

En uppenbar fördel med PATSCAN CMRTM är att den alltså flyttar ut platsen där hotidentifieringen sker till att vara långt ifrån platsen där förövarna kan göra störst skada.

PATSCAN CMRTM kräver inte heller något medgivande från oss individer som uppehåller oss på olika platser. Detta utgör normalt sett en begränsning och är en del av förklaringen till varför så många platser saknar system som kan upptäcka dolda vapen.

Hur upptäcker PATSCAN CMRTM dolda vapen?

Produktsystemet PATSCAN CMRTM bygger på vad som kallas för kognitiv mikrovågsradar (Cognitive Microwave Radar, CMR). Detta är den absolut senaste tekniken för att scanna av individer efter dolda vapen. Systemet kan scanna individer både öppet och i det fördolda, det vill säga utan att individen får kännedom om det. PATSCAN CMRTM kan till exempel scanna av en individ som är på väg in i en byggnad och upptäcka om hen bär på ett dolt vapen. Utan att personen vet om detta. Oavsett om vapnet är en pistol, kniv, handgranat, bombväst, bombbälte etc.

Patriot One Technologies produktsystem PATSCAN CMRTM använder alltså en ”smart” radar för att upptäcka dolda vapen. Allt sker alltså automatiskt av en smart maskin – PATSCAN CMRTM – i realtid och är helt och hållet datorstyrt. Människor behövs inte vid scanningen.

här går det till rent tekniskt. PATSCAN CMRTM skickar ut och får tillbaka en radarsignal. Signalen analyseras av den kognitiva mjukvaran. Men vad är det som analyseras av mjukvaran och hur går detta till? Allt sker i realtid och det går snabbt. Mjukvaran tar in ritningen av det dolda vapnet. Denna ritning skapas genom de tillbakastudsande radarvågorna. Mjukvaran gör sedan en snabb körning av ritningen i en stor databas över kända vapen av olika slag och kan med mycket hög säkerhet avgöra om någon bär en pistol, ett gevär, bombväst, bombbälte, knivar etc. Det hela styrs av avancerade algoritmer.

Men inte nog med det, den upptäcker och varnar även för dolda oregelbundna föremål. Detta gör att även nya okända potentiella vapen kommer att identifieras.

Till skillnad från de system som idag används är PATSCAN CMRTM inte bara betydligt billigare. Systemet behöver endast en scanning och kan användas dolt. Produktsystemet kan även användas från olika vinklar, till exempel framifrån, bakifrån, från sidan och underifrån.

Otaliga användningsområden

På grund av att PATSCAN CMRTM är bärbar och så liten ger den närmast oändliga möjligheter till placering. Den kan helt enkelt placeras på väldigt många ställen och erbjuder kunden en stor flexibilitet. På små utrymmen som en reception är en detektor tillräckligt. För större utrymmen kan flera detektorer användas. Varje detektor har en räckvidd på 2 meter och genom att använda flera detektorer kan avskanningsområdet i princip göras precis så stort som kunden önskar.

Produkten placeras oftast i s k accesspunkter, det vill säga i ingångar, passager, receptioner, entréer eller platser där människor måste passera. Tack vare det obegränsade antalet som kan placeras kan PATSCAN CMRTM täcka in större folksamlingar och passager där många människor passerar samtidigt. Detta sparar inte bara tid och personalresurser. Det undviker även köer, förseningar och irritation. Allt på ett tryggt, diskret och säkert sätt. Man kommer helt enkelt inte att märka av det. PATSCAN CMR:sTM sensorer scannar alltså regelbundet av människorna som passerar och kan diskret identifiera en individ som bär ett dolt vapen och varna säkerhetspersonal och/eller rättsvårdande myndigheter såsom polis, säkerhetstjänst och andra myndigheter.

PATSCAN CMRTM kan alltså placeras i ingången till flygplatser, till skillnad från metalldetektorerna som idag finns placerade långt in i flygplatsen vid säkerhetskontrollen.

Patriot One Technologies har en produkt som kan användas på oerhört många ställen.

Produktsystemet kopplas till datorer, mobiltelefoner (via app) och/eller till ett lokalt larm. Personal kan alltså på avstånd få omedelbara varningar om vapen skulle upptäckas.

En plats av särskilt intresse att använda PATSCAN CMRTM är vid ingångarna till skolbyggnader. På så sätt kan en potentiell förövare identifieras innan hen kan ta sig in på skolområdet och utföra sitt planerade attentat, och personal på skolan kan larma säkerhetspersonal eller polis.

Patriot One Technologies kommer som ett steg i produktutvecklingen att satsa på att göra PATSCAN CMRTM handhållen. För att till exempel kunna fästas på polisbilar eller rentav på poliserna själva för att scanna av närområdet och om en person bär ett vapen.

Unik inlärningsförmåga – Machine Learning och Artificiell Intelligens (AI)

Patriot One Technologies innovativa radarsystem har en unikt kognitiv förmåga. Systemet är designat och förberett före leverans såklart och är fullt fungerande. Men det som gör att produkten sticker ut ännu mer är systemets artificiella intelligens (AI) och förmåga till inlärning (Machine Learning Algorithms). PATSCAN CMRTM fortsätter att lära sig ute på plats när den väl är installerad. Den blir helt enkelt smartare av att arbeta. På så sätt utvecklar den sig själv. Precis som människor gör genom att få erfarenhet. PATSCAN CMRTM blir helt enkelt ännu bättre och smartare på att upptäcka dolda vapen för varje scanning det gör. PATSCAN CMRTM lär sig alltså från sina tidigare mätningar och utvecklar på så sätt kontinuerligt sin förmåga att upptäcka vapen och oregelbundna föremål.

Om kunderna dessutom har flera PATSCANs på olika platser så delas varje scanners inlärning till systemets alla enheter. Alla nya inlärningar och identifieringar av vapen skickas även vidare till den centrala vapendatabasen. Därmed kommer samtliga bolagets kunder ta del av detta.

Så här säger Vd:n Martin Cronin om vad som gör Patriot One Technologies teknik unik.

Q.) There are no shortage of security companies in today’s world. As your site correctly suggests, there is a rise in domestic active shooting incidents. How is your technology unique compared to other detection companies? Is it the ability to learn over time?

A.) That’s the key feature of it. It’s the fact it is using machine learning to make very accurate determinations for concealed weapons. But there are a number of aspects to it. The current technology space is occupied by technology we’ve seen for a very long time: hand held wands, metal detector arches, etc. These tend to be fixed and high visible pieces of equipment that require human operators. And they have a lot of false positives. Our equipme nt can be deployed covertly and has a very small space profile; it can be behind a wall. It allows you to push your security parameter way out, beyond the point people are expected to be searched. It doesn’t require subject compliance. It doesn’t require a human operator. We can network alarms and signals, and you can use your personal much more efficiently with that technology.

Kan integreras med befintliga säkerhetssystem

PATSCAN kan också integreras i andra befintliga säkerhetssystem. Det kan till exempel röra sig om låssystem till dörrar. På så sätt kan systemet helt enkelt se till att dörrar, passager, entréer – antingen i nära anslutning till scanningen eller längre in i byggnaden där kanske fler människor uppehåller sig eller där känsliga uppgifter finns förvarade – låses. Därmed säkerställer man att förövaren inte kan göra sådan skada som hen hade för avsikt att göra och förhindrar att förövare med vapen kommer in i ett område.

Det är helt enkelt upp till vad kunderna önskar sig. Systemets integrationsmöjligheter med andra säkerhetslösningar är mycket stor. Kameraövervakning är ett annat område som många kunder redan använder sig av.

Noggrannhet

Patriot One Technologies system har genomgått omfattande tester ute i verkligheten. Resultatet från dessa tester är överväldigande. Testerna visar att systemet upptäckte dolda vapen med ”zero false negatives” och har en ”false positive rate” på mindre än 5 procent.

Zero false negatives betyder att systemet upptäckte alla vapen. False positive rate används för att tala om hur ofta systemet flaggade för icke-vapen som hot. Detta är vida överlägset befintliga system.

  • Redan efter tre månader (i mars 2017) hade bolaget fått in order motsvarande över 90 procent av försäljningsmålet för 2017. Fram till godkännandet i Kanada (6 september 2017) och USA (2 oktober 2017) har Patriot One Technologies inte fått kommersialisera sina produkter. Det är så lagen ser ut så inget konstigt med det.
  • Patriot One Technologies VD Martin Cronin förklarar detta pedagogiskt i två olika intervjuer den 21 augusti 2017 resp. 26 september 2017. Han förklarar också vad bolaget nu ska göra för att den storskaliga försäljning drar igång, vilket också är bolagets strategi. I korthet handlar det om att Patriot One Technologies har varit mycket selektiva i sitt urval av initiala kunder. Man har handplockat ett mindre antal early adopters/key customers som måste arbeta tillsammans med Patriot One Technologies gällande att testa och utvärdera produkten.

Q: So, you start with customer installs in the 4th quarter. What sort of customers are you seeing and what sort of customer traction are you getting initially?

Martin Cronin: Our challenge really is who do we choose. We’ve had such overwhelming interest. Clearly this is a technology whose time has come. We’re getting approaches. Literally on a daily basis from right across the world. So, we’re having to identify some early adopter clients who we can work with who will be a key point of reference in the market and who have the level of sophistication to work with us to look at how best to deploy, make sure that we can learn any lessons from the field that we haven’t anticipated and that they as a client can really think about how they can deploy it.

So, the sort of clients that we are talking to is of course in government federal departments, in mass transportation, in tourism & hospitality, casinos, the health sector, higher education, retail… the list is almost endless and we know that we can’t just do it all in a drop of a hat, we can’t turn on the shift and just ship units out tomorrow. That will be a recipe for some failures in the market. We can’t afford to do that. So, we’re picking them very carefully. We’ll have some key reference clients here in Canada, some key clients in the US, we’ll be doing an installation in London, and we’ll likely be doing one in South Africa.

Q: So, you talk about being sold out through the 4th quarter and possibly beyond. Can you talk a little bit about the production site, what the constraints and bottlenecks are and how you’re going at it from that standpoint?

Martin Cronin: Sure. Our supply chain is well locked down. We, in our business plan that we communicated to the market, said that we had a target of 300 units the end of this year. Those are all now pre-committed with clients. Our supply chain – the item with the longest lead time is the signal generator which is produced for us on a contract in the US. They can do currently 300 units a month which additional lead time with retooling. They can ramp that up to 1 000 or 2000 units a month. So, we have supply chain locked down for our immediate demands for the next 12 months and were already working on much higher volumes that we anticipate beyond that period.

Godkännande av amerikanska, kanadensiska och europeiska myndigheter

Marknad

Enligt marketsandmarkets värderas marknaden för hotdetekteringssystem till $48 miljarder 2015 och beräknas nå $119 miljarder 2022 med en genomsnittlig årlig tillväxt på 13.1 procent. Vidare säger man att ökande hot från terroristaktiviteter, ökat antal territoriella konflikter och geopolitisk instabilitet har lett till en ökning av efterfrågan av hotdetekteringssystem. Man ser också ett ökande behov av sådan utrustning på offentliga och kommersiella platser vilket kommer att driva efterfrågan.

Undermarknaden ”Security Screening Market” (X-Ray & Biometric Screening System, EDT, & Metal Detector at Airport, Government, Border Security, Education, and Private & Public Places) uppskattas vara värd $9.1 miljarder 2020 med en årlig tillväxttakt på 9.5 procent.

Smallcapnetwork uppskattar marknaden för anti-terrorism till 117 miljarder CAD.

Triggers

  • Installering hos key customers/early adopters och utvärdering under skarpa förhållanden (i de miljöer och omgivningar som produkten ska användas). Företagets planerade årsproduktion på 300 enheter har redan sålts till key customers/early adopters. Dessa har nu börjat installeras och kommer fortsätta installeras under Q4. Kunderna är s k early adopters och utvärderingen kommer att sätta nivån för framtida försäljning.

Patriot One Technologies – har vi fortfarande ett starkt case trots de senaste dagarnas nedgång?

Det har varit en del oro med anledning av några dagars kursnedgång. Vi har också sett rimliga teorier och förklaringar om detta, både från amatörer, erfarna investerare i gruppen, professionella analytiker och från bolaget själv. Såvida vi inte ser ett ras till en rejäl bit under 1 CAD så tror jag att vi kan vara fortsatt trygga i vår investering, som vi läst på så mycket om och vars case är starkt utifrån den information som vi har att tillgå.

Jag tror att ett klargörande är oerhört viktigt när det gäller Patriot One Technologies, som jag samtidigt också hoppas kan förklara varför jag anser att den besvikelse och oro som en del har uttryckt de senaste dagarna inte är särskilt välförankrad i information som skulle kunna ge anledning till oro (självklart kan jag inte säga att det i framtiden aldrig kommer finnas risk för att aktien rasar – det kan man som bekant aldrig – men detta är inte ett sådant tillfälle).

Många kanske undrar vad det är som händer och varför vi inte hör något från bolaget gällande exempelvis flera stora order, lukrativa avtal med samarbetspartners etc. Men faktum är att bolaget har kommunicerat allt detta till marknaden redan. Informationen finns också här i gruppen. Men det är inte så lätt att hitta den, särskilt om man inte har tid. Därför känns det tacksamt att ha så engagerade medlemmar som hjälper till att plocka fram den.

Q: You have a number of demos out in the field. Can you talk about the status of these demo units and how things are going?

Late spring early summer we went out to a number of cities and did client demonstrations in the premises of clients who wanted the system. But also, they allowed us to bring other prospective customers. So, when we went in to a city like Orlando we would set up in a client’s premises and run another dozen or so clients through to see the technology in action and that led to these additional purchase orders which means that our volume is now fully committed. What we will be doing now… because until we have regulatory approval we can’t go and install and be always on in a client’s environment. So, the difference now is going through the certification process from here on and now these become permanent installations in client’s premises rather than a showcase demonstration.

Q: What are your major concerns going forward?

Well, once you’re on the field you’ll discover things that you haven’t anticipated, the unknowns. We have to make sure that we have robust enough field service strength to be able to get on top of those things immediately to ensure that that our customers get a really seamless installation process. For example, on one of these client demonstrations we took the unit out to the field in Minneapolis, set it up and the system was working beautifully and then all of a sudden, the system went haywire. What it was, was a large elevator which only moved once in a while behind a wall opposite. Nobody knew it was there and just once in a while it moved into the field, a giant metal box. This is radar. The radar seeks this giant metal object. So, it’s those sorts of things. Which is why I said that we’re not just boxing up these units, shipping them out the door and saying “away you go, good luck”. It’s about building a position of trust in the market.

We now have our Industry Canada approval and we expect to be FCC approved in the US imminently. That’s the catalyst to then allow us to go out and do commercial installations. That roll out is a very careful process because this is a machine learning system. It’s got to go out and learn its environment, it’s got to learn the effect of high temperature, low temperature, having elevators … having air conditioners, etc. Then all of that learning gets pushed out to our investors. So, the initial roll out is a relatively small number of sites with early adopter clients, so … they can learn how to implement the system. That will prepare us for a mass market roll out in 2018.

INN: In September, the company announced its PATSCAN CMR™concealed weapons detection system that received Industry Canada certification for commercial use. What has investor response been to this?

MC: This is one of the key catalysts… the FCC is seen as the big one because of the size of the US market. But, the good thing about getting the industry Canada certification, firstly, it allows us to operate in our home market in Canada, but also the regulations are identical in Canada and the US. So, having satisfied the Industry Canada approval process, we have a high degree of confidence that our FCC certification is imminent. And that, I think, is a big catalyst for the market.

INN: Looking forward, what is the company most looking forward to in the months ahead?

MC: I think it’s being out there in the real world, with real paying customers … installed in their premises, providing a game-changing technology. I think that’s what our investors need to see. The story is out there, people are aware of the technology. What they need to see now is that it’s in commercial premises with paying customers, so that’s what we’re very excited about undertaking in this quarter.
